Fundraising Cyclists First To Use Newly Re-routed National Cycleway

Every picture tells a story and non more so than the elation on the face of this happy chap who was one of the group of cyclists who rode from Whitehaven to Tynemouth in under 12 hours in aid of St Oswald’s Hospice, raising around a staggering £6000.00.

The group, led by fundraiser John Davidson, left Whitehaven at 3.30 am 22nd June and were the first group to stop for a photo opportunity outside the Old Low Light which is now on the newly re-routed Coast 2 Coast Cycle Ways.

When we open in September, we will be geared up to welcome cyclists in need of refreshments before the final climb on the last leg of their marathon Coast 2 Coast adventure.

We are currently installing 2 new sets of cycle racks to encourage our visitors to use pedal power to come and work up a thirst and appetite before looking around our exhibitions, or taking part in one of our hands-on workshops.
